Abstract

Domestic violence is defined as the abuse of power in intimate relationships between an individual (usually male), trying to control and dominate her partner (usually the woman). Abuse of power is not only exists physically but also in the form of sexual, economic and psychological causes women to feel helpless and always live in fear. This article discusses the views of women victims of abuse related counselling services to address the issues faced. Based on interviews of a qualitative approach adopted in this research, in-depth exploration of the historical experiences of the women was obtained. Thematic analysis was carried out on 25 transcription interviews which found that the issue of the procedure and the role of counselling and counsellors are among the themes that emerged from this research. At the end of the discussion, a number of recommendations put forward in particular to the formal support network resources to improve existing counselling services offered.
