Abstract

ABSTRACT

The discussion of automation is no longer revolves around the ability of manufacturing companies carry out production with automation, but the extent to which companies can improve productivity and product quality through optimum efficiency levels. Hence the use of automation requires more skilled production workers to enhance industry competitiveness in the market. To meet these requirements, training needs to be strengthened and carried out systematically. Training allows an employee to become more efficient, improve individual job performance and have a positive impact on company performance. This study is a survey of the relationship of training in using the automation industry with job performance. Data were collected using questionnaires given to operators and supervisors in cement manufacturing company in Indonesia. The results of data analysis showed that there was a positive relationship between training and job performance. The findings also showed that the majority of the job performance of the operator is at the intermediate level, while the effectiveness and level of training in the use of automation industry as a whole is at a high level.

Persoalan tentang automasi bukan lagi berkisar sekitar kemampuan syarikat pembuatan melaksanakan pengeluaran dengan automasi tetapi sejauh mana syarikat dapat meningkatkan produktiviti dan menghasilkan produk yang berkualiti melalui tahap kecekapan optimum. Justeru itu, penggunaan automasi memerlukan lebih ramai pekerja pengeluaran yang terlatih untuk meningkatkan daya saing industry di pasaran. Bagi memenuhi keperluan ini, latihan perlu dikukuhkan dan dijalankan secara sistematik. Latihan membolehkan seseorang pekerja menjadi lebih cekap, meningkatkan prestasi kerja individu dan seterusnya memberi kesan positif kepada prestasi syarikat. Kajian ini merupakan satu kajian tinjauan mengenai hubungan latihan dalam menggunakan automasi industry dengan prestasi kerja. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kaedah soal selidik yang diberikan kepada operator dan penyelia di syarikat pembuatan simen di Indonesia. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan positif Antara latihan dengan prestasi kerja. Dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan majority prestasi kerja operator berada di tahap sederhana manakala keberkesanan dan tahap latihan dalam menggunakan automasi industry secara keseluruhannya berada pada tahap tinggi.
